by Gavin Seim: It’s amazing how much information is in files coming from today’s cameras. I do a lot of HDR photography, but I’ve also been working to bring out dynamic range on single files. I can actually pull out more tones using LR than I can in Photoshop.
Today I recorded a quick video to look at brushes masking and Luminance tools to control tones. There’s an HQ download version on Seim Effects. I’ll also be speaking on LR at the PPW Fall Conference so if you’re in the region stop by. Why am I still typing? The video explains it all.

It’s no secret that photographers are sometimes treated as criminals for doing nothing more than taking pictures. This video will make you laugh, as well as make photographer criminalization look pretty stupid.
It’s about Duane Kerzik, who was arrested for taking pictures at Penn station. For their photo contest no less. I’m glad I’m not on the PR team for Amtrak, because it looks like their on a one way rail to stupidity. I could say more, but instead, just watch the video.

The D3X is here. I don’t wanna get into the global politics of it all, but I felt this was worth reporting on. While I’m a Canon guy, I think Nikon makes great systems. Still, the cost of the D3X for what it offers… It does seem a bit spendy.
Frankly though I don’t blame Nikon for this outburst. I think the guy has way bigger problems. Enjoy

The Adobe Lightroom version 1.1 update just came out. Rather the the daily bore of behind the scenes enhancements that usually come with an update like this, Adobe has added some WOW into the mix with some great new features, including easy to manage catalogs, better presets organization and…. Wait why are you still reading click play and watch it in the video.
