Nikon D700 Coming Soon

June 26th, 2008

nikon-d700.jpgIt looks like Nikon’s prepping a new DSLR for the middle of their pro lineup. The D700 is rumored to be announced this August, and available later this year.

This little gem should go for a little over 3k USD, and is rumored to have the same sensor that graces the Nikon D3

This is spy shot of the supposed D700 as reported by Engadget. Head on over there for more gritty details, and stay tune for real facts in the future.

Pentax K200D Coming Soon?

December 29th, 2007

12-29-07-k200d.jpgEngadget today posted an image the the Pentax K200D. Who knows how soon this is coming out, and it’s also possible it’s a fake pictures.

The real question is that while it looks nice do most pro’s really care. Competition is good, and we don’t mind rooting a bit for Pentax but they are way behind in what most serious photographers want. Lenses are more important than bodies too, and Nikon and Canon londa got it cornered.

Times change though and Pentax seems dedicated to increasing it’s dslr market share. More power to em we say!

5D Mark II Coming Soon?

November 24th, 2007

Everyone just loves a good rumor! Especially when it involves the predecessor to one of Canon’s newest and most raved about digital slr camera bodies, the 5D. There was a post over at Engaget with possible evidence that the next gen 5D could be announced sooner rather than later. It could be a month from now or even a year from now before this camera gets announced, who knows really (besides the suits at Canon!) This, currently fictional camera, may be worth waiting for if you are looking for a pro Canon slr with features and pricing somewhere between the 40D and the EOS 1D Mark III.

What kinds of new or upgraded features do you hope they build into the new Canon 5D Mark II? Leave your thoughts in a comment.

Adobe: Online Photoshop coming this year

November 13th, 2007

From Cnet

MONTEREY, Calif.–Adobe Systems has committed to shipping a beta version of its online image-editing tool, Photoshop Express, this year, and said it will be complete in 2008.

“By late this year, we anticipate having a beta version,” said John Loiacono, senior vice president for Adobe Creative Solutions, speaking at the 6sight digital imaging conference here. And next year, the online service will be “available to anyone,” he said.

Loiacono showed Photoshop Express running on an Adobe server connected over the Internet, he said. But when the average person experiences the software, it likely will be through partners such as Shutterfly or Photobucket, he said.

Unsurprisingly, Loiacono left unmentioned Flickr, which said in October it will use Picnik’s online photo-editing tools.

Photoshop Express is a profoundly important project, and Adobe’s schedule indicates that its repercussions are near-term and not academic.

For Adobe, the project is the spearhead of a transformation from a seller of boxed software to a provider of services in an increasingly rich Internet experience. And for the industry overall, it signals that Internet technology is maturing enough that companies are willing risk extending the brand of respected PC software to the network.

Photoshop Express, as its name suggests, isn’t a full-fledged version of Photoshop proper or even of its hobbyist-oriented sibling, Photoshop Elements. The intent is to reach a much larger audience than the company currently reaches with its higher-end boxed software products.

EOS 7D on the horizon

October 3rd, 2007

Engadget and others are reporting of a UPC that’s surfaced for the EOS 7D. We know virtually nothing at this point, but it seems logical that it’s a replacement of the very popular 5D.

It hasn’t shown up on the CIPA list as did the MK3, and the 40D did when they were on the horizon, but it’s likely to get more interesting from here for those who have been itching for that 5D replacement.

Stay tuned…
