What’s Your Favorite Camera Bag/Case (poll)

by Gavin Seim: This started as simply a poll, but I felt it was such a broad and useful question that it needed a poll with a post so you can all post comments and thoughts as well.

Camera bags and cases are personal and important. As photographers we often get pretty into them. I’m always buying bags for various situations and usually spend quite some time deciding, even within one brand.

I’m usually a Tamrac guy, but always looking and have seen some great offering with others. I tend to like backpacks for their versatility, but have some smaller shoulder bags, and have recently been looking at rolling cases. I also use smaller systems for when I’m on the go and need quick access including a Tamrac MAS belt system and recently trying out the Shootsac.

I’ve listed many of the major manufacturers. Start with the poll below and then share in the comments. What’s your favorite bag style for each situation? Why do you like your favorite brand etc. Should be a fun topic.

Think Tank Photo! Awesome quality gear.

  3. 3 Ron M.

You forgot the most important – Think Tank

  4. 4 Neil Gaudet

I still haven’t found the perfect bag. :(

I’ve got a Domke and its great. Very durable.

Sorry I can’t remember them all. Since they already have three comments I added in Think Tank.

I want to keep it accurate. Those of you that voted “other” who use Think Tank can comment again and I’ll manually move the vote from “other” to Think Tank.

Yeah, I voted other -you can change it to Think Tank, I’ve got like 4 of their bags!

    Hello
I think you should have made the poll so that we can choose several brands or rank them and also ask how many bags the people answering own
There is no such thing as a “do -it-all” bag
I love my Lowe pro and think tank bags the most

I’m somewhat limited to what I can do in a basic poll Harold. I know it’s a prettu open question. That’s why I made a special post for this one. Thanks for the input.

    Hi Gavin,

I voted for a Lowepro. I’ve a Computrekker Plus AW and I’m happy with it. It’s a big bag, but comfortable to wear.

Need to add Domke to your list! I’ve used the original Domke bag for 10 years now, and it just keeps getting better!! (Love that strong canvas, hip-confirming nature, and great protection and capacity) The “postal” shoulder pad is also great.

I love my Pelican PCS-283 RSV rolling bag. Not only does it hold 2 complete 5D
systems, lenses and accessories but the laptop bag will hold a 17″ laptop and
accessories.. and it fits in the overhead bin on the plane. Just used it for a trip to
Louisiana and back on a MD88 with no problems.

    Mark me down for “Other”…

I love my Shootsac while on the job. So very nice and easily accessible.

Second would be my Lowepro Nova 5AW. Have several other Lowepro’s, and some Tenba’s.

Canon? A little bias showing here. Seriously though I think Domke and Think Tank are excellent bags and not even on the list.

  15. 15 Gavin Seim

No bias. I’ve never even used a Canon bag. I just put down what I knew about.

I’m glad you’re all leaving comments about other too. I think this might be worthy of another poll later with more brands. To add them now would probably not give them a fair shake, so we’ll look in to making a fuller poll if people are interested.
