I am afraid I am going to disagree with you a little most of pros I have known use manual as much as their auto modes, and when they are using auto and program modes are very much aware of the shutter speeds and f/stops. And all of them are avoiding the sports programs like the plague. Generally thye pros I know set their camera for the situation and what they are trying to capture. Of course the first cameras I shot had nothing automatic. And there is nothing automatic with a View Camera.
